Poppies at the Tower of London

When the Britalian and I went to London a couple of days ago, he asked me whether there was something specific that I wanted to do.  I replied that I would like to see the poppies at the Tower of London.  We decided to walk along the bank of the Thames to get there.  We walked quite a significant distance along the Thames Walk.  There were many other people doing the same, although most of them seemed to be heading away from the Tower rather than towards it.

By seeing the poppies I meant the major art installation that is called Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, at the Tower of London to mark one hundred years since the first full day of Britain’s involvement in the First World War.

Tower of London

With 888,246 poppies present, it is a stunning spectacle.

The good news is that if you haven’t managed to see the display yet, some of it is going to remain until the end of November.

More information on the installation can be found on this website.
